Watch This Guy Get Wrecked by the Navy SEALs Fitness Test

Plenty of bodybuilders, fitness personalities, and even active-duty soldiers have taken on the famously grueling U.S. Navy SEALs Physical Fitness Test (PFT), and found that they struggle to complete every section of the challenge, which tests not just strength, but also endurance. YouTuber Ethan Payne, aka Behzinga, is the latest to set himself the imposing task of completing the PFT.

The PFT begins with a 500-yard swim. As Ethan points out: “Essentially, you’re tiring your whole body out before you even get to the next four things in the test.”

While the minimum score is 12 minutes 30 seconds, Ethan says he is aiming to hit the competitive standard of 8 minutes. And while he takes longer than that in the tiring first round, he does finish a whole minute faster than the minimum time, coming in at 11 minutes 28 seconds.

After a 10-minute break, Ethan attacks the second test: 2 minutes of pushups. The minimum score here is 50, and the competitive standard is 80. “Swimming uses a lot of chest muscles; this is going to be disgusting,” he says. And he’s right. Exhausted by the swim, he manages 37 reps in the 2-minute window — a failing score.

This is followed by 2 minutes of situps, with a minimum standard of 50 and a competitive score of 80 to 100. Ethan cranks out 55 reps, a passing score, before ending the challenge 5 seconds early.

He is then allowed a 2-minute rest period, before moving onto the next round: 2 minutes of pullups. The minimum standard here is 10, while the competitive standard is between 15 and 20. Ethan just about manages to pass this one, getting his chin over the bar 10 times in the allotted time, although it leaves him struggling for breath and barely able to speak.

After another 10-minute rest comes the final portion of the challenge: a 1.5 mile run. After around 6 and a half minutes and 1.1 km, he has to call it quits, failing the test. “Doing this on no carbs is a wrap,” he says, explaining that he’s currently trying an extremely low-carb diet for another video, which is less than ideal for this kind of physically intensive challenge.

“Doing that, while putting yourself through something like this, isn’t the smartest idea,” he says. “So please, don’t copy this.”
