Blake Lively’s Trainer Reveals How Long She Spends In The Gym

Don Saladino of Drive Gym trains both Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, and he often gives us fans a little insight into her workouts.

After welcoming her first child James in December 2014 and sliding back into a bikini to film The Shallows mere months later, the actor is back at it again, getting in fighting shape for Bruised having given birth to daughter Ines late last year.

The 29-year-old is yet another motivation to make ourselves comfortable with the squat rack – Saladino says that weights make up a massive part of her training.

“When you are doing those exercises, you are not training one area of the body. They are complex and compound and they are requiring the whole body to work. You also get that cardiovascular effect too,” he told Health of the strength-training circuits he does with Lively.

During her downtime, Lively trains one to two times per week upping it to five or six in the lead up to a major movie.

“We would do an upper body workout Monday, lower body Tuesday. Wednesday was a playful pool workout where she would do laps,” Saladino told People. “Thursday was upper body, Friday lower body, and Saturday we were focusing on the accessory movers: the arms, the shoulders.”

He puts Lively through her paces with full body moves like farmer’s walks, sled pushes, squats, deadlifts, and incline pushups.

“This is burning high calories, and getting her foundation really, really strong,” he added.

And he says anyone can do it.

“What she did was very doable,” he says. “We weren’t in [the gym] for three, four, five hours a day. It was max an hour. Maybe a couple of special days it went over a little bit, but the reality is she has a baby, and she’s a working woman.”
