At 36, Issa Rae’s Legs Look So Toned In A See-Through ‘Naked’ Dress At The 2021 Emmy Awards

  • Issa Rae, 36, showed off her toned legs in a sparkly, see-through dress at the Emmy Awards.
  • A bodysuit underneath the dress totally highlighted Issa’s super sculpted bod.
  • Issa says a paleo diet and running help her stay fit and healthy.

Issa Rae looked anything but Insecure at the 2021 Emmy Awards. The writer and actress, 36, showed off her toned bod on the red carpet while rocking a glittery fishnet dress with a bodysuit underneath—and her legs look so sculpted. Plus, she topped off her look with a diamond grill (now that’s a power move).

While she didn’t take home either of the two Emmys she was nominated for, Issa totally won her fans over on Instagram. She posted a mini photoshoot of her sparkly fit from every angle, and the comment section basically blew up.

Pop star Chloe Bailey wrote, “wow 😍,” while fellow actress Taraji P. Henson added, “😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥.” Another fan commented, “body-ody-ody. Always so in awe of you! ❤️🔥.” The fit in question:

In case you were wondering, Issa spilled her best fitness secrets to Women’s Health back in 2019. Issa explained that she first noticed it was time for a health reset after her writing projects began to take off: “When the Web series started, I was very, very broke. Then more opportunities began to come,” she said. “I was gaining New Money Weight.”

“When you get a good job, you’re like, ‘I can afford to eat at restaurants all the time!’ That adds up in weight,” she added. She realized she needed to rearrange her priorities. ““Time to work out is so limited, but when I first started seeing myself on TV, I was like, ‘I gotta make time,'” The Lovebirds star said.

Issa also mentioned that the gym isn’t exactly her favorite place. “I was a big excuse person when it came to exercising and eating right. I’d have spurts of trying to work out and being good. Then once I fell off, I’d be like, ‘Well, there’s always next year. Let me make it my New Year’s resolution.’ But even then, I would still be eating wrong while exercising vigorously.”

So instead, Issa goes for runs in her neighborhood super early—she sets her alarm for 4:55 a.m. on workout days. “I exercise for, like, an hour each day. My neighborhood has a bunch of hills, so it’s walking up hills. Then I alternate between walking and jogging. I hate jogging—you’re going in circles, but I recognize that it helps,” she told WH.

Issa added that running also helped her mental health in ways she didn’t expect: “You know those earbuds that you put in your ears? I was running, and one fell. It was dark outside and I couldn’t find it. So I was forced to just be alone with my thoughts, and I was like, ‘Oh, I need to do this more often.’ Those moments are the most creative. I think finding those moments while also nurturing your body is important.”

As for her diet, Issa is “paleo-leaning.” After being a vegetarian for 15 years, she’s slowly started to add some meat back into her meals, like bacon. She also loves to cook—“I just started cooking Senegalese food, which I’m really excited about,” she said. Her inspiration in the kitchen comes from watching her mother learn to cook new recipes inspired by her Senegalese father, and Issa realized she could do the same.

Clearly, those 5 a.m. runs are working (but I’m still not setting my alarm that early.) Killing it, Issa!
