Craving chicken tenders after hours? Welp, McDonald’s can’t help. The iconic fast-food chain announced plans to pare down its Late Night Menu offerings, and a number of a favorites are sadly on the chopping block.
According to leaked documents obtained by Business Insider, beginning April 30, Micky D’s is eliminating its Signature Crafted Recipes, Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, Buttermilk Crispy Chicken Tenders and Sandwiches, Filet-O-Fish, and premium salads between the 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. time slot. Regional menu items like Bagel Sandwiches and Snack Wraps are also being dropped.
So, why has McDonald’s decided to punish us, their loyal customers? The company is actually looking to help us by streamlining the process. “We always want our customers’ experiences to be simple, smooth, and delicious—any time of day,” a rep for the brand said in a statement to BI. “That means, day and night, we’re always looking for ways to serve them even better.”

The internal document details how employees should handle recently eliminated orders. “Late Night service crew should be prepared to respond to customer questions about why an item is no longer available during late night,” it reads. If you’re dying for a Filet-O-Fish, they’re instructed to suggest a Big Mac. Ask for chicken tenders and they’ll offer up the McNuggets. You get the point.
The company hopes the move will help employees whip up the classics even quicker. Big Macs, Quarter Pounder burgers, Chicken McNuggets, fries, Happy Meals, and All Day Breakfast items are sticking around. McCafé coffee, sides, and desserts aren’t going anywhere either.
