FYI, The Royal Family Always Travel With A Bag Of Their Own Blood

Being royalty, it’s safe to assume Queen Liz has never felt the *immense stress* of coming close to the 7kg carry on limit. Heck, she has a whole plane to herself, the woman does not need to travel light. Still, we’re surprised to learn the monarch packs far more than the essentials when going on an overseas jaunt.

Duncan Larcombe, former royal editor for The Sun, told Yahoo UK that the 93-year-old always includes a supply of her own blood in her suitcase, which follows her in a convoy.

“If it’s the Queen, Prince Charles or Prince William, they’ll have the royal physician with them, with a bag full of their own blood, just in case something happens,” he explained.

This is likely a way to maintain the line of succession to the throne (in case someone needs an emergency transfusion,) and mostly occurs when visiting a country where reliable blood supply isn’t readily available.

It’s not just the blood that gets a free ride though. According to The Sunday Times’ royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah, each member of the royal fam has around 12- 14 people in their entourage.

“It tends to be three press secretaries, a private secretary, sometimes an assistant private secretary will go as well, a hairdresser, a valet, a digital person who assists with communications,” she explains.

That’s a lot of excess baggage.
