While we do love our morning jaunts to Starbucks (as someone who works from home, it’s often the only chance we have to talk to people not online all day), sometimes dragging ourselves out of bed to get coffee before we start working feels impossible. That’s why we always have a stash of caffeinated beverages in our fridge, and now that Starbucks is launching ready-to-drink Nitro Cold Brew, we’ll have even less of a reason to leave the house early in the morning. Win!
Similar to canned Guinness, the magic in the Starbucks Nitro Cold Brew happens when you crack open the can. That infuses the drink inside with nitrogen, giving you the same ultra-smooth texture you’d get when your barista pours your coffee from the nitro tap.
Starbucks’ ready-to-drink Nitro Cold Brew comes in three flavors.
Nitro Cold Brew Black is an unsweetened, super smooth black coffee.
Nitro Cold Brew Dark Caramel sounds delish! It’s a blend of smooth black nitro coffee with dark caramel flavor lending a light sweetness to the drink.
Then, there’s Nitro Cold Brew Vanilla Sweet Cream, a riff on the drink you can actually get at Starbucks. This one adds a vanilla-flavored, sweetened cream to your coffee. It’s a smoother, lighter-tasting option for those who don’t like their coffee too bold.
You can make regular cold brew at home, and you can make regular iced coffee at home, but making your own nitro cold brew coffee at home, while possible, is kind of a pain (unless you happen to live in an abandoned coffee shop with a ready and waiting nitro tap or something). Starbucks’ new ready-to-drink Nitro Cold Brew makes it so that you can get the smoothest possible iced coffee at home without having to haul yourself to your actual Starbucks. After all, do you really want your cute barista to see what your hair looks like so early in the morning?
