Lay’s is on a roll with its new, limited-edition releases this year. Back in May, the potato chip brand brought back its popular Crispy Taco flavor thanks to its “Do Us a Flavor” campaign, and now, months later, the brand has taken a classic comfort food dish and transformed it into its newest flavor, Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup.
Fall is the perfect time to embrace the most iconic culinary duo, grilled cheese and tomato soup. And its crunchy makeover courtesy of Lay’s likely won’t disappoint. The new flavor will be available for purchase for $3.49 per 7.75-oz. bag in stores nationwide soon — on Oct. 21. So, if you need to jot it down on your calendar to remind yourself to grab a bag (or two), do it, because like we said earlier, it’ll only be available for a limited time.
The release of Lay’s Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup also happens to land on the same day as the new Lay’s contest, “Gotta Have Lay’s,” which will grant the lucky winner free Lay’s for one year. To take part, visit the contest website, GottaHaveLays.com, and simply upload a photo of yourself with Lay’s new packaging design. Lay’s will then choose 200 winners.
This isn’t the first time Lay’s has released grilled cheese-flavored chips, even if for a brief period of time. In 2013, Grilled Cheese & Ketchup was voted as one of four top contenders in the Lay’s “Do Us a Flavour” campaign in Canada. The other three flavors proposed by Lay’s fans were Creamy Garlic Caesar, Maple Moose, and Perogy Platter.
