When we were kids, the food served at Halloween parties was obvious: peeled grapes (eyeballs), a bowl of lukewarm spaghetti (brains), and witch finger cookies topped with slivered almond fingernails. But as an adult, trying to decide what to serve at a spooky soiree is a little more difficult – you want your snacks to be on-theme, but you also don’t want to make them so repulsive that no one wants to eat. This year, ALDI has cleared things up for us in a big way, thanks to a tasty new collection of Halloween-themed cheeses that we can’t wait to serve at our All Hallow’s Eve party.
The collection includes four different cheeses, all of which have kooky names and thematic packaging.
There’s “No Rest For The Wicked” Wensleydale cheese, which is infused with strawberries and prosecco; “Freaky Franken” Derby cheese infused with sage; “Scary Pumpkin Spice,” a pumpkin-shaped Wensleydale flavored with cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg; and “Bat Knit Crazy,” a black cheddar cheese that’s sure to spook your guests.
Served alongside some crackers or sliced and put inside some zombie pigs-in-a-blanket, these cheeses are a definite must-have for your Halloween gathering. After all, the only thing scarier than being haunted or harassed by monsters and witches on Halloween is attending a party where there’s no cheese!
The cheeses will sell for $3.99 each and will be introduced on October 16th, then sold through Halloween or until supplies run out. So basically, you should be lining up at ALDI on October 16th so you can rush the dairy case and stock up before someone else does.
This isn’t ALDI’s first foray into holiday cheeses. Last Christmas they had a cheese advent calendar, and this March they released a collection of St. Patrick’s Day-themed cheeses too. Our taste buds hope this is a trend they continue!
