They say you shouldn’t meet your heroes, but luckily Eddie Hall ignored that advice. The former World’s Strongest Man winner just spent the day hanging out with his childhood hero, Arnold Schwarzenegger, during the actor’s recent visit to the UK.
Schwarzenegger invited Hall to his hotel in Wales, where he was appearing on-stage for An Experience with Arnold Schwarzenegger; the two of them had drinks in the evening, then met up the following morning for an hour-long gym session, which must have been as surreal as it was exciting for the strongman. They then chilled out over breakfast and smoked cigars together.
“It’s a really nice, humbling feeling,” said Hall of meeting his hero. He then attended the Terminator star’s next live show in Birmingham, accompanied by his wife Alexandra, where the significance of it all hit him.
“I never thought when I was seven years old, watching Terminator 2, watching Arnold walk into that bar for the first time butt naked, kicking the shit out of 20 outlaws, riding off on a new motorbike, that I’d be sat having breakfast, smoking a cigar with that guy 24 years later,” he said. “That’s pretty incredible, really… Childhood dream come true.”
Not included in the video was the secret, off-screen chat that Hall had with Schwarzenegger about an as-yet-undisclosed project, which he says “should come to light in a couple of weeks,” adding: “Big news. I’m going into business with Arnold, basically. I’m super stoked, super excited.”
