You’ve heard this many times: breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And there’s a good reason for it. A good breakfast can kickstart your metabolism and set the pace for easy digestion through the day. If you’re looking to lose weight fast, you need to ensure that you’re eating timely. However, of all the meals, your breakfast will determine how quickly you lose weight.
Too many people make mistakes while picking what to eat for breakfast. Either it is high in carbs, high in saturated fats or too sugary. If your idea of a good breakfast is waffles or pancakes, you definitely need to read this.
Here are some breakfast mistakes that you’re making and how to correct them.
Too much cream in your tea/coffee: A healthy cup of coffee can quickly turn unhealthy when it is leaded with fatty creamers and sugar. Instead, opt for sugar-free soy milk, almond milk or oat milk. It might take a while to adjust to this new, unfamiliar taste, but soon you’ll learn to enjoy it.

Too much salt: If you’re used to eating hash browns, poha or upma loaded with salt, then you need to cut down on it right away. Sodium causes your body to retain water, which leaves you feeling bloated. If you want to add more flavour to your meals, opt for paprika, herbs, turmeric.
Skipping breakfast: Skipping breakfast is unhealthier than eating something wrong. “The body is in a state of catabolism at night. Continuing this fasting period will only make this condition worse and lower the body’s metabolism. Hence, it is imperative to have breakfast. This kick starts the body’s metabolism, prevents low blood sugar levels, prevents fatigue, and helps prevent binge-eating throughout the day,” says nutritionist Karishma Chawla. So, don’t skip your breakfast.
Too much fibre: Eating too much fibre early in the morning may make you gassy. If you’re eating more fibre than needed, make sure to have enough water so that it moves along your digestive tract.
Bulletproof coffee: The trendy bulletproof coffee has very few nutrients but is loaded with calories – 441 calories and most of it is artery clogging saturated fat. If you are making a meal out of this, we suggest you stop. There’s no fibre or protein. Bulletproof coffee is usually made by adding high-fat butter and raw egg to black coffee.
