Celebrity parenting seems really hit or miss judging by what you read in the tabloids, and it’s hard to know what’s actually going on behind the scenes. But do you ever get the vibe that some famous folks are actually getting it right? Such was the case when we viewed a series of adorable videos Chrissy Teigen posted on Monday. She and husband John Legend seem to have a lot of fun together as a couple, but they also know how to make parenting their daughter Luna and son Miles less of a drag than you might think. Case in point? Calling to order the Candy Court to determine how much candy Luna should be able to eat each day. It totally beats your classic family meeting set up.
Interrogating Luna about why she needs the candy, Teigen, judicially poised with a makeshift gavel, seems stumped. But Luna’s reasoning is totally sound: “I want candy because I want it and I like it.” When asked what she’ll do when she gets her candy, Luna replies, matter-of-factly, “Eat it!”
Mom Teigen had something else in mind and goes on to ask Luna if she’ll be good and promise not to scream when it’s time to sleep. Luna promises, and then she and Teigen negotiate how many pieces of candy she’s allowed to have each day.
Luna, ever the savvy negotiator, gets her mom to go from offering one piece of candy to offering two, not a bad deal at all if you ask me.
Celebrity parenting news can often be depressing, but we’d gladly tune into another episode of the Teigen/Legend family’s Candy Court any day.
