Between Beyoncé's September Vogue cover, Rihanna's September British Vogue cover, and the rose-covered hairstyles created by Odile Gilbert for Rodarte's Spring 2019 NYFW show, a pattern is clearly emerging. It seems wearing real flowers in one's hair — and a lot of them — is becoming a trend. And one woman has come up with an especially interesting way to do so.
Taylor R, a Canadian blogger living in Hong Kong, recently posted a few pictures on Instagram in which she's wearing what she has hashtagged #FlowerVaseHair — because there's literally no better way to describe it. Her long hair is defying gravity atop her head, shaped like a curvy vase, and holding a real bouquet of colorful flowers. In the caption, she wrote, "Be truly ground breaking this fall.. wear florals ?"
It turns out Taylor had the clever idea to wrap her hair around an empty plastic water bottle. She used several elastics to not only secure the bottle but also help create the undulating shape. After stuffing her ends into the top of the open bottle, she simply inserted some flowers, and voila — Cindy Lou Who, but make it fashion.

In the week since Taylor shared her whimsical updo with Instagram, she has inspired other people around the world to give it a try. Moonie Chu, a member of Hong Kong's fencing team, is one of the latest Instagram users to post her version of the style. "I basically placed a small water bottle on top of my head and wrapped all of my hair up and around it to create the shape," she tells Allure. "I used elastic bands to create the vase shape, and then placed the flowers into the bottle creating that illusion."
Over in Norway, an Instagram user named Thomas gave the look a try, telling Allure he used an actual vase instead of a plastic bottle. Meanwhile, Anthea Peter, a vlogger in Malaysia, tells Allure, "I used my mom's flower decor and she noticed it went missing and she thought someone stole it!" And they're just a few of Taylor's fans who couldn't resist taking the #FlowerVaseHair challenge.
