COVID-19 is an infectious disease that has been confirmed in more than 30 million people across the world. If you develop any of the key coronavirus symptoms, you should get tested for the infection straight away.
The UK has seen a steady rise in the number of coronavirus cases over the past few weeks.
Almost 10 million people across the country have been put into local lockdowns, in a bid to stop the rising spread of the infection.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has now ordered all pubs and restaurants to shut at 10pm, while nobody should meet with more than five other people for the foreseeable future.
You could be at risk of the infection if you develop unusually sore lips, it’s been revealed.
Your lips may feel scaly or particularly dry, according to the British Association of Dermatologists, in combination with the COVID Symptom Study App.
The soreness may also extend to inside the mouth, it warned.
Oral signs of coronavirus make up just a small number of possible skin symptoms.
If you think that you have any symptoms of COVID-19, you should consider self-isolating.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, it has become clear that in addition to the main symptoms of fever and cough listed by Public Health England and other health agencies, people with the virus can also develop symptoms on their skin,” it said.
“Reports first from China and then from Europe have shown that the skin can be affected by the COVID SARS2 virus in up to 20 percent of cases.
“This virus triggers a lot of immune reactions so it is no surprise that the skin is involved.
“Lips may feel sore and can become dry and scaly as they recover. Soreness inside the mouth can also occur.”
But just because you have dry lips, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have coronavirus.
Dry or sore lips is a very common problem – especially during cold weather.
If you have dry lips, you can try using a number of lip balms to find the right one for you.
You should also consider covering your lips with a scarf when you’re outside in cold weather.
Meanwhile, a high fever, a new cough, and a change to your sense of smell or taste are the most common early coronavirus symptoms, according to the NHS.
In the UK, you should only get tested for the infection if you develop any of these symptoms.
Some patients have also reported a sore throat, headaches, and even hiccups, on top of the more common signs.
More than 46,000 people have died from coronavirus in the UK.
