Let’s just preface this by saying Vanessa Hudgens is not on the keto diet (you know, like every other celeb out there is…or was).
The high-fat, low-carb diet isn’t exactly the easiest of eating plans, after all. You’ve got to stick to less than 50 grams of carbs a day on the diet—which means no bread or pasta (but you can have cheese).
Still, because the diet is super-popular, keto foods are popping up all over the place–especially on-the-go keto snacks (you know, so you don’t have to carry around a stick of butter as a midday nosh).
That’s why Women’s Health asked Vanessa, who’s got three different movies coming out over the next three months, to try some of the most popular keto snacks out there (she does typically try to snack on low-carb and low-sugar foods, after all).
Again, the keto diet isn’t necessarily for everyone, but Vanessa tried all five snacks (seven, if you count all three flavors of DANG Bars). She wasn’t really feeling any of the keto bars, tbh, but was pleasantly surprised by a few options that kind of weirded her out at first (like the snack that made it look like she had “poop in her mouth”)—cringe.
Her two faves: Sriracha Moon Cheese and Trader Joe’s Roasted Seaweed Snack. “They’re cheese balls…but they’re sriracha” she said, impressed by the after-burn they left in her throat (like all good sriracha products leave).
Overall, Vanessa was a damn champ to try all those keto snacks—even though she thought most of the keto protein bar options were…”chalky.” To each her own!
