Just when thought we'd seen Charlize Theron in every imaginable haircut and hair color combination, the Oscar winner has decided to stun us on a random Tuesday afternoon with a sneak peek at a new look she's sporting for an in-the-works film: voluminous, bright-red curls.
Theron posted two not-quite-full glimpses at how she looks in character — namely Lady Lesso in the upcoming Netflix movie School for Good and Evil — and it's safe to say we've never seen the beauty chameleon in a hairstyle like this before. The nearly shoulder-length ‘do is almost as wide as it is long thanks to fluffy, brushed out curls. And the color! It’s a truly stunning, fiery shade of red.
In the first photo, Theron appears to be touching up her makeup in a mirror. Most of her face is obscured, but in addition to her amazing hair, we can see she's wearing a metallic, dark-gray manicure. In the second photo, the actor's face is still unclear thanks to an out-of-focus effect, but her hair is still the star of the shot.
Theron's long-time go-to stylist Adir Abergel is behind the incredible new look. He posted the same photos to his own Instagram grid, writing, "The secret is out why I’ve been locked in Ireland. There aren’t many people I would have quarantined for….but for Lady Lesso, I would do anything. It has been so much fun creating this look with @charlizeafrica and the legend @paulfeig."
While we suspect the look is a wig, wouldn't it be absolutely amazing if this was actually Theron's current hair? Either way, we can't wait to see the full look when she decides to share more photos and when the film finally lands on Netflix.
