A Bodybuilder Spent the Day Eating Like NBA Legend Michael Jordan in His Prime

YouTuber Aseel Soueid regularly spends a day in the life of some of the world’s fittest athletes and celebrities, following their diets and training regimes to try and unlock the secrets to their physical performance. Previous experiments have seen him eating and working out like LeBron James, Mark Wahlberg, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In his latest video, Aseel tries the diet plan favored back in the day by NBA legend Michael Jordan, who won six championships during his time with the Chicago Bulls, and is widely accepted as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. The menu, which Aseel has put together after trawling the internet, comprises 6 clean meals and over 4,200 calories.

He starts the day with a breakfast of 3 scrambled eggs, oatmeal with strawberries, blueberries and raisins, and a glass of orange juice. A few hours later, it’s time for meal #2: a shake made with whey protein, frozen blueberries, and bafflingly, blue Gatorade. “I’m pretty sure Michael Jordan drinks the Gatorade separately, and has this as a protein shake,” says Aseel, “but I’m just going to mix it all in one, and pray.”

The pre-workout meal consists of boneless, skinless chicken breast, two servings of pasta, and a a green salad with dressing. Aseel especially recommends this kind of meal for hardgainers who struggle to put on weight while bulking: “I’d recommend switching potatoes with pasta,” he says. “It’s going to be a lot easier to consume, and you will pack on carbs and calories a lot easier eating pasta.”

Following his workout (during which he performs sprints and basketball drills in keeping with the theme of the video), Aseel has another protein shake, again made with Gatorade. For meal #5 an hour later, he eats two lean beef patties and a baked potato (eaten in a starchy facsimile of a burger in order to trick his mind into letting him eat all this volume).

For the sixth and final meal of the day, according to Aseel’s research, Jordan would eat whatever he wanted, and so Aseel goes ahead and orders a half roast chicken, mashed potatoes, plantain chips and smoked fish dip.

At the end of the challenge, Aseel totals up his macros to 456 grams of carbs, 276 grams of protein, and 150 grams of fat. “Today was absolutely epic,” he says.
