Vinny From "Jersey Shore" Lost 50 Pounds With This Popular Diet

Since giving up the “loaves and loaves of white bread” and desserts that previously dominated his Italian upbringing, Jersey Shore cast member Vinny Guadagnino has taken on the low-carb and high-fat keto diet lifestyle. And it turns out, slices of bacon and Sicilian olives have him fist pumping just as much as pasta dinners on the Shore did.

Vinny lost 50 pounds on the diet and dubbed himself the “Keto Guido” on Instagram. Now, he’s sharing the keto-friendly foods that are always in his fridge.

1. His food’s got to be all natural.

“I’d rather cook from a natural product, I feel like my body knows what to do with it,” says Vinny. Not about that processed life, he’ll turn to butter instead of margarine, and when it comes to meat: “It’s going to be grass-fed, it’s going to be organic, free range, stuff like that.”

2. Just because he’s living the keto life, doesn’t mean he’s gorging on bacon.

“Everyone thinks keto people eat bacon all day,” says Vinny, “three little pieces with my eggs, I’m good.”

And despite the loads of cheese in his fridge drawers (including mozzarella, of course), he doesn’t go overboard on that either, since he still tries to keep his dairy consumption in check. In fact, rather than cow’s milk, Vinny opts for coconut milk as a non-dairy alternative.

3. He’s got a sweet tooth.

But while he used to go to town on sweets, Vinny says a piece of 90 percent dark chocolate does the trick these days. And so does keto cheesecake sweetened with an alternative to sugar, like monkfruit extract.

4. Everything’s got to have garlic, garlic, garlic… oh, and some more garlic.

Well, maybe accept for the dark chocolate and cheesecake. Otherwise, Vinny’s healthy eats have got to be as flavorful and garlicky as they are keto-friendly, which he chalks up to his Italian roots.

But when it comes to his go-to arugula salads, a squeeze of lemon, olive oil, salt, and some onions to an arugula salad, that’s tasty enough for the keto guido.

5. His freezer is basically a butcher shop.

Vinny proudly picks the pepperoni off pizza and leaves the rest, despite getting teased by his Jersey Shore pals. So, clearly he’s a meat lover—and his freezer is a true testament to that fact.

Thanks to a delivery service called ButcherBox, Vinny, who’s all about mixing up his proteins, will have his favorite frozen meat delivered right to his door every month. “I don’t eat the same thing all the time,” he says, so the service offers him a range which includes rib eye steaks and beef strips (which he loves), in addition to grass-fed lamb, and ground bison.
