Whether you’re a regular at Subway or haven’t been there in a HOT minute, the sandwich shop’s new collaboration will grab your attention, especially if you’re a fan of the sweet, fluffy rolls that are King’s Hawaiian. If you’re not familiar with the brand—which yes, was actually started in Hawaii—may I suggest you swing by the grocery store and track a pack down ASAP? They come in an orange plastic sleeve, you can’t miss ’em.
So, back to Subway: Starting June 27, more than 300 shops in three lucky cities will be serving sandwiches made with 8-inch King’s Hawaiian Rolls. Now, they look a little different than what you’re used to, 1) because they’re in sub form and 2) they’re freshly baked, but they’ll have the same sweet taste, per a press release.
Guests in Champaign, IL; Reno, NV; and Richmond, VA, can order subs in three ways: Any sub on the menu can be made “Aloha Style,” which means it’ll be served on an 8-inch Hawaiian Roll with a deluxe portion of meat and double the cheese of a standard 6-inch sandwich.
There are two brand-new subs on menus, too. The Turkey, Bacon, and Provolone is made with the three namesake ingredients plus lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo, while the Ham & Swiss comes with spinach, tomatoes, and mayo. Both, of course, are served on the 8-inch King’s Hawaiian bread. Of note, this is the first time King’s Hawaiian bread is being freshly baked in a restaurant.
Sandwiches will be available in these three test cities through September 4—hopefully, after that, we’ll see it in more stores nationwide.
