Watch Arnold Crush a Shoulder Workout Just Days After Being Drop-Kicked

Remember that time an unsuspecting Arnold Schwarzenegger was attacked at a sporting event in South Africa? Turns out the flying kick to the back earlier this year didn’t throw him off his training routine.

The actor last week posted a video to Instagram showing him “checking on [his] back” three days after the May incident—by pumping some serious iron.

In the video, the bodybuilder and former California governor is seen doing 12 reps on a pull-down machine at its maximum weight—proving, it seems, that his back was just fine after the attack.

“You want me to keep going?” a smiling Schwarzenegger says after the tenth rep. “Okay.” Schwarzenegger was speaking with fans at the Arnold Sports festival in Sandton, Johannesburg in May when he was suddenly attacked from behind by a man who ran up to the action star and drop-kicked him in the back.

The attacker, who seemed to shout “I need a Lamborghini” after he was apprehended by security, was immediately escorted out of the event. Schwarzenegger assured everyone he was fine at the time, continuing to greet fans and posting on Twitter that he hadn’t even been aware he’d been kicked until he saw the video. “There is nothing to worry about,” he wrote.

The throwback Thursday workout video Schwarzenegger posted last week removed all doubt. Indeed, his back appears to have been just fine after the surprise jump-kick. To handle such a kick—and such weight —at any age would be impressive. But at 72 years old, it’s even more commendable.
